Dave Christison
Dave is one half of a co-writer/director team with Marty Moynihan. Together, under the banner of Riot, they develop and create character driven films and documentaries, including ‘The Nature Of Winning’ (7Plus), 3ep docuseries featuring the Logie Winning Tony Armstrong ‘Trading Fortunes’ (post production) along with a number of scripted features and documentaries currently in development.
Dave has navigated his first decade in the screen industry as an independent production company (The Woolshed & Riot Content - B&T’s Highly Commended Production Co. Of The Year 2016 & B&T’s Production Co. Of The Year Finalist 2019), having produced, written and/or directed TVC’s, documentaries, studio programs, web series and shorts.
Previous credits include Sydney Film Festival Dendy Finalist ‘Man’ (writer, producer), St Kilda Film Festival Winner ‘Found’ (writer, producer) and experimental web series ‘The Viral Experiment’ (writer, producer, co-director) which garnered over HALF-A-BILLION online views, beating Jimmy Fallon to the post for Best Viral at the 2017 Webby Awards. Dave’s commercial work has been recognised with a Cannes Lion, Golden Trailer, One Show Gold Pencil and multiple New York Festivals and Award Awards. Prior to filmmaking, Dave worked in theatrical distribution at Roadshow Films.
Marty Moynihan
Marty is one half of the co-writer/director team with Dave Christison, who operate under the banner of Riot. Marty’s film career began with a series of short films achieving success both nationally and internationally. From there he created the documentaries: ‘Notes from the Underground’ (ABC), ‘The Nature Of Winning’ (7Plus) and ‘There’s No Escape - The Story of Powderfingers Third Album’ (Channel V).
As Senior Creative at Foxtel’s Fox Sports, Marty won a slew of national and global awards for the campaigns he created around many of Australia's beloved sports, which led to his nomination for Subscription Televisions Creative of the Year in 2016. In 2020 during lockdown Marty created ‘One Night Lonely’ the critically acclaimed online reunion concert for Powderfinger. Watched live by half a million Youtube viewers, raising half a million dollars for charities in the process.
In 2017, Dave and Marty teamed up creating countless commercials. In 2022 the duo turned their focus to long-form documentaries, limited series and feature films. They are currently in post on a 3ep docuseries featuring the Logie Winning Tony Armstrong, ‘Trading Fortunes’. At the same time they are in development on 2 scripted features and a documentary on the embattled and beloved surfing world champion Mark Occhilupo.
